I don't know about you but I'm glad it's the last day of summer! I am SO ready for some fall weather and pumpkin themes.
This week was simply a blur. I wrapped it up by attending an all day orientation as a newly appointed MU Human Development and Family Studies (HDFS) advisory board member. Many of you are familiar with this department because you studied there. They produce some high quality early childhood education graduates as well as family studies, child life specialists, and a host of family development experts. They also house the Center for Family Policy and Research, which hosts the Show Me Healthy Relationships grant that we subcontract with. At one point all of the faculty came in to visit with us and I was so proud to hear several references to Head Start partnerships and interest in Community Action. It is an honor to serve on their advisory board but you can bet I'm looking for opportunities to support our work!
That was a high point for the week. I experienced a low point earlier in the week when we decided to pull the plug on Wine, Women, and Song for this year. Our agency as well as our event partners at Joe Machens have gone through a lot of changes in the last year that have resulted in unforeseen challenges for the event. Based on conversations with them and at their recommendation, we've decided not to move forward with the event this year.
That's all I've got for this week. I'm counting on ten more straight wins for the Cardinals and a squeeze in to the playoffs but I'll need all of your good vibes. Have a great weekend!
